Kretek International, Inc Lagunas
Kretek International, Inc. has announced the U. S. launch of Lagunas brand premium imported cigarettes by Djarum. The Lagunas blend was developed by an international team from Djarum and Kretek over a 2 year period of blending and testing. Lagunas' taste is characterized by a truly unique combination of tobaccos from the U. S., Brazil Indonesia, Turkey, and Greece, blended for smoothness, enriched taste, and unique accents and characteristics.
"We believe that Lagunas will deliver on a global promise of a new and more enjoyable cigarette for the 21st century," stated Kretek CEO Mark Cassar. "Obviously, the cigarette market has changed. Adult smokers have fewer occasions and less time to enjoy tobacco, but still want an enriched quality experience." The Lagunas name resonates strongly with consumers, signifying relaxation, escape and a special level of sophisticated quality.
Lagunas is available in 2 styles, Smooth Select & Menthol Select. It is important to note that Lagunas is not a clove cigarette, making it an important venture for Djarum into Regular and Menthol product. The new brand is priced at a slight premium to major brand cigarettes like Marlboro and Camel, supported by its premium imported blend, but slightly below specialty brands like Dunhill, Natural American Spirit, and Nat Sherman. "Djarum has done an incredible job producing an entirely new luxury brand from end to end. Current adult smokers will enjoy the finest possible smoking experience." Cassar concluded.
The brand comes in a wide European Style 20-stick flip-top box with double bundled sections of 10-sticks each and 10 boxes per carton. The product is slightly slimmer than major brand cigarettes 7.3 mm in diameter, in keeping with current global trends.
All LIP/FSC regulations complied with in applicable states, with proper FSC markings on packs cartons, and cases. The FTC has reviewed the brand and has given its approval for the Surgeon General Warnings (SGW) rotation plan. Required FDA ingredient submissions for new or modified products have also been made. Lagunas is currently available in limited areas, with plans to roll out to all 50 stated by the end of summer.
