The energy-efficient Parallel Glycol Rack Refrigeration system uses floating head pressure technology to reduce system energy consumption by as much as 25% over a standard mechanically controlled glycol system, according to the manufacturer. Relying on state-of-the-art digital controls to provide precision, diagnostics, data logging and monitoring capability, the glycol system reduces refrigerant charge and keeps refrigerants completely contained within the parallel rack system. Only chilled glycol is distributed to the kitchen, resulting in less refrigerant and piping, and leading to fewer chances of leaks that can cause greenhouse gasses to escape into the atmosphere. The manufacturer received a 2013 Kitchen Innovations Award for the unit.
