SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Town & Country Food Stores has selected Transaction Network Services Inc.'s (TNS) point-of-service (POS) division to provide cohesive network transaction solutions to its more than 140 convenience stores throughout Texas and New Mexico.

Reston, Va.-based TNS is a network and data communications provider for transaction-oriented applications.

Town & Country Food Stores has purchased FusionPoint by TNS, a data communications solution that enables all technical applications in its c-stores to flow through [image-nocss] one broadband pipe, which the tech firm says simplifies the connectivity and delivering significant savings in time and maintenance costs. TNS will provide Town & Country Food Stores with network connectivity and data communications services for credit card, ATM and check authorizations; accounting services; and fuel tank monitoring systems.

TNS acquired the assets of FusionPoint Technology Solutions from TechLAN Inc., the company anounced last week. FusionPoint provides electronic-technology data communications products and services to the c-store and gas station markets.

The assets purchased include customer and vendor contracts, inventory and equipment, and certain intellectual property rights. As part of the acquisition, TNS is hiring the four key FusionPoint employees.

"FusionPoint by TNS is an expansion of our existing retail link strategy, which makes it easier for retailers to manage connectivity," said Heidi Goff, executive vice president and general manager, TNS Point-of-Service division.

FusionPoint by TNS designs and installs turnkey solutions that integrate legacy devices into an IP network. It provides a single point of communication for multiple channels.

"Our solution simplifies convenience and petroleum store systems," said Matt Mudd, executive vice president of technology for TNS. "We enable stores to more effectively and easily operate and maintain their communication networks, while containing costs and preserving capital."

San Angelo, Texas-based Town & Country Food Stores operates 140 c-stores and 7 T&C Village Markets supermarkets.
