Retalix, Pay By Touch Forge Alliance

Will integrate biometric authentication payment system with POS solutions

DALLAS -- Retalix USA and Pay By Touch have formed an alliance that will integrate Pay By Touch's biometric authentication payment system with Retalix's point-of-sale (POS) solutions for grocery retailers.

Pay By Touch developed a patented consumer biometric authentication payment system that allows shoppers to pay for purchases with a simple finger scan linked to their financial accounts. The Pay By Touch service makes the checkout process faster, more convenient and more secure than other payment methods by eliminating the need to present checks, credit, [image-nocss] debit, membership or loyalty cards at the POS, the company said.

Retalix StoreLine, with more than 25,000 installations around the world, is an in-store solution that addresses grocery industry requirements by offering hardware-independent world-class POS, backoffice and mobile functionality, ease of use, system robustness and the ability to process data in real time across multiple sales channels and formats.

The partnership between Retalix and Pay By Touch expands the biometric payment service offering into new vertical markets. Through this partnership, grocery retailers will be able to integrate the Retalix StoreLine software with the Pay By Touch consumer biometric payment service.

"We're seeing an increasing demand from retailers for suppliers to provide Pay By Touch-ready products," said John Rogers, founder, chairman and CEO of Pay By Touch, San Francisco.

"By incorporating the Pay By Touch service with the Retalix StoreLine POS software, we extend our offering for our customers by giving them the tools they need to improve customer service with more convenience and lower transaction costs," said Victor Hamilton, president and CEO of Retalix USA. "In addition to improving the efficiency of the payment process, our integration with Pay By Touch provides our retailers with a faster and more convenient method of linking to loyalty programs and validating a consumer's age for restricted products such as lottery tickets and alcohol, all of which help to reduce overall time at the checkout.

Pay By Touch is a biometric payment service that is free to consumers, and that allows shoppers to quickly and securely pay for purchases or cash checks using a finger scan linked to their personal identification information, financial accounts and loyalty programs.

The company offers retailers a complete payment solution, from front-end biometric authentication, age verification and check cashing to payment processing merchant services for ACH, debit card and credit card transactions.

Meanwhile, Retalix has also launched Retalix InSync, a synchronized supply chain and enterprise software portfolio. It is a web-based portfolio of synchronized software applications, especially designed and developed to meet the requirements of retailers and distributors in the grocery and foodservice industries.

Retalix announced a detailed roadmap for the release of the new Retalix InSync application portfolio, including: Retalix InSync Purchasing, Retalix InSync Ordering and Billing and Retalix InSync Analyzer, that will be available this year; Retalix InSync Invoice Matching and Retalix InSync Warehouse Management that will be available in first-quarter 2006; and Retalix InSync Yard Management and Retalix InSync Replenishment Optimization that will be available during 2006.

These new applications are based on a portfolio of field-proven applications developed by OMI International and acquired by Retalix in January 2004.

Retalix has been enhancing these new applications to complement the functionality found in the Retalix Power Enterprise application suite, which was developed by Integrated Distribution Solutions and acquired by Retalix in 2005. Retalix said it anticipates that components of its new web-based applications will be used by customers in conjunction with existing applications.

The Retalix InSync suite is all built around Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and the applications are being developed using the industry standard Java (J2EE) technology. They will run on virtually any hardware and operating system that is compatible with that technology, the comp0any saidUnix, Windows, Linux, IBM Mainframe and IBM iSeries. The new applications support standard application servers and can operate with any of the standard relational databases used in the market. These cross-platform and interoperability capabilities will allow Retalixs existing and new customers to protect their investment in hardware and infrastructure software.

Retalix will continue to offer and provide customer support for its existing applications. The Company also announced that current Retalix products such as Retalix Power Enterprise, Retalix HQ, Retalix Store and others will be integrated with the new Retalix InSync Master Data Management infrastructure, and that new Retalix InSync services and engines can be deployed for existing customers. This approach is expected to provide better interoperability between the various Retalix applications and allow a more rapid incorporation of advanced functionality into existing customer environments.
