Mobil station owner adds sandwich shop

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. -- Cousins Subs Systems Inc. is opening a new store in Caledonia, Wis, on April 2. The store is owned by Dwarika Singh of Brookfield, Wis. Singh also owns the Mobil gas station attached to the new Caledonia Cousins Subs store.

"I've operated eight gas stations in the Milwaukee and Racine area over the past 12 years, and I was looking to expand my horizons a bit. The food business is a new arena for me, and I'm thrilled to get started," said Singh. "After hearing such great things about Cousins Subs, I decided to bring one to the Caledonia community."[image-nocss]

The new restaurant seats 38, the company said. It is the second Cousins Subs in Caledonia.

"I have two civil engineering degrees and a mathematics degree, but I'm a businessman by nature," he said. "This new opportunity will open a lot of doors for not only my family and friends, but the entire Caledonia community as well."

Cousins Subs is based in Menomonee Falls in suburban Milwaukee and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East Coast-style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East.
