YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores officially introduced its latest store design to the public last Friday, opening the first of 10 new stores planned for what is said is a "record year of expansion." The 5,200-square-foot store debuted in Springettsbury Township, York County, Pa. Rutter's is in the midst of the most ambitious growth plans in its 40-year history. It will invest more than $55 million this year to build 10 stores and 11 car washes, which will add 350 new jobs, and more than $4.5 million in annual wages and benefits, to the area economy.
"This is an exciting time of growth [image-nocss] for Rutter's, particularly as we introduce our most advanced design ever," said Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter's Farm Stores. "This is the new face of Rutter's, and we look forward to bringing it to many more communities in the months to come."
The store features a modern, environmentally friendly design, including a white roof that will keep the building cooler while reducing energy demand. The interior features open ceilings and makes liberal use of floor and wall tile that extend into bathrooms with floating ceilings, music and other upscale accents.
The store features Rutter's latest foodservice offerings, including custom stir-fry, fajitas and fresh-baked bread. Customers can design their own "oriental bowls" by choosing among chicken, beef and pork, and among fried rice, white rice, noodles and veggies. They also can select various toppings and dressings. Sub and cibatta rolls come in a total of seven varieties and are available for sandwiches or for individual retail purchase.
Other store amenities include 18 fueling positions, a self-serve premium-coffee island, seating and a no-fee M&T Bank ATM.
Ink Byers is manager and Sue Shiffer is deli manager for the store, which is open 24 hours.
Family-owned and third-generation managed, York, Pa.-based Rutter's operates 52 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania.
