Mac's Buys 10 Locations From Baron-Huot Oil

Sale of c-stores will allow Illinois company to focus on wholesale business

BRADLEY, Ill. -- Baron-Huot Oil Co. has announced that it has reached an agreement with Mac's Convenience Stores LLC to sell its retail assets consisting of 10 convenience stores.

All of the stores are located in the Kankakee, Ill., market.

Jerry Huot, chairman of Baron-Huot Oil, said that the transaction reinforces his family's commitment to the community and to superior customer service that Circle K will provide.

He added that the deal allows Bradley, Ill.-based Baron-Huot Oil to focus on the wholesale portion of its business, as well as on the other active business interests that the family owns.

Baron-Huot Oil has been a family owned business since 1911.

Terry Monroe of American Business Brokers, Effingham, Ill., and Bill Fecht of WJF Services Inc., Normal, Ill., advised Baron-Huot Oil on the transaction.

Laval, Quebec-based Couche-Tard's network currently includes almost 6,200 c-stores throughout North America, including approximately 4,500 stores with fuel. It has agreements for the supply of motor fuel to more than 350 sites operated by independent operators. Its North American network consists of 13 business units, including nine in the United States covering 40 states and the District of Columbia (under the Circle K banner) and four in Canada covering all 10 provinces (under the Couche-Tard and Mac's banners).
