SNAP.HOLD.KICK. event deemed a success

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Baltimore football fans were out in full force on April 18 to see their long-snapper Morgan Cox, punter Sam Koch and kicker Justin Tucker at the Jiffy Mart "SNAP.HOLD.KICK." charity autograph signing event. The event was held at the Westminster Greene Turtle, where the fans, Jiffy Mart, WTTR-1470AM, Press Pass, LGC Sports Marketing and Graphcom Inc. teamed up with the players to help raise both funds and awareness for Carroll County Food Sunday.

"In 2012, Carroll County Food Sunday served an average of 430 families a week, handled 20,507 requests for assistance and purchased 225,238 pounds of food for the food bank," said Ed Leister, chairman for Carroll County Food Sunday. "That was in addition to the 143,509 pounds of donated food we received and the 38,918 pounds of food received from the federal government."

Tom Moser, general manager for Jiffy Mart added, "Carroll Food Sunday also provides milk vouchers to families, and over half of them are redeemed at Jiffy Mart locations. Therefore, it's an honor to help in the funding of an organization that does so much for our local families."

During the event, more than 200 people lined up for autographs. "People started arriving as early as 3 p.m. [for the 7:30 event], and turnout from the community was outstanding," said Dwayne Cover, Jiffy Mart business manager.

Those in attendance were also entered to win a Terrell Suggs autographed football. As an added treat, Martins Chips, UTZ Chips, Hershey and Pepperidge Farm provided samples to those in line while WTTR broadcast a live radio show during the event.

Miles Goodman of Press Pass PR said, "All three players had a lot of fun and were happy with how the event was handled."

As well as providing the venue for the event, the Greene Turtle kicked in a portion of its sales from that day. WTTR also held a radio-thon during the day to help raise additional funds and to accept donated food items for Carroll County Food Sunday.

LGC Sports Marketing conducted a silent auction during the event.

On behalf of the community and the event sponsors, the Jiffy Mart team proudly made a presentation of funds totaling $4,400 to Carroll County Food Sunday.

Owned by Tevis Oil Inc., Jiffy Mart currently operates four stores in Carroll County, Maryland. Two locations are in Westminster, one is in Finksburg and one is in Hampstead.
