Ultramar Awards Dispenser Supply Agreement to Gilbarco

Long-term agreement extends four-year supplier relationship

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root has reached an agreement with Ultramar Ltd. in Canada to supply fuel dispensers and related equipment to Ultramar's network of more than 1,000 retail sites.

The three-year agreement, which follows a supply agreement between Gilbarco and Ultramar that took effect in 2001, makes Gilbarco the primary supplier of dispenser's to Ultramar.

The technology behind products like the Encore 500 dispenser has been developed to help retailers increase profits in every phase of their operation, said Gilbarco president Martin Gafinowitz,

Among its business lines are fuel dispensing and control; site and retail management; support services; and environmental compliance technologies.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root unites major brands offered by Greensboro, N.C.-based Gilbarco Inc. and Simsbury, Conn.-based The Veeder-Root Co. Gilbarco is a global supplier of fuel dispensing equipment and fully integrated point-of-sale (POS) systems. Veeder-Root is a global supplier of automatic tank gauging, leak detection and fuel management systems, including Red Jacket submersible pumps.

Montreal-based Ultramar, a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corp., owns and operates a refinery that currently has a production capacity of 215,000 barrels of oil per day at Le avis (SaintRomuald), near Quebec City. It markets gasoline and diesel through a network of approximately 1,000 retail outlets, 87 cardlocks, and sells heating oil to some 155,000 customers.
