TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip convenience stores are adding Rev7, Revolymer Ltd.'s "removable and degradable" chewing gum, formulated to discourage waste.

And beginning in March, GPM Investments LLC's Fas Mart and Shore Stop chains will also stock the product.

Rev7's ability to disintegrate into a fine powder using mild water and agitation motivate social responsibility and heighten environmental responsible among consumers, the technology development company said. It has long-lasting flavor and provides a chew that does not get hard or stiff for the duration of the chewing experience, the company added, saying it is the "first and only" such product.

Revolymer also said that it has gained day-to-day retail distribution in more than 4,000 U.S.

"We are delighted that QuikTrip, Fas Mart and Unified have joined our growing list of retail chains that have the product in their planogram," said Chris Tamillo, vice president of sales and marketing of Chicago-based Revolymer. "To put the positive environmental impact of Rev7 into context, the disposal of one pack of conventional chewing gum has the same environmental impact as one plastic bag--which, in the U.S. alone, equates to over 20 billion plastic bags of pollution from gum every year. Rev7 gum offers a solution to this issue with its unique degradability."

He added, "Rev7 gum meets two as yet unmet needs in the market--gum that has both long lasting flavor and can be chewed longer, without going hard like other gums."
