Kellogg's, Convenience Stores 'Give a Great Start'

Kum & Go, Holiday, Pantry, Thorntons participate in fight against childhood hunger

ELMHURST, Ill. -- With the goal of sharing two million breakfasts with kids throughout America who might otherwise go hungry, Kellogg served up breakfast at convenience store corporate headquarters across the country including Kum & Go, Holiday, The Pantry and Thorntons.

The "Give a Great Start" Program is sponsored Kellogg's and Action for Healthy Kids, America's largest non-profit volunteer organization working with schools, families and communities to help kids be healthy and ready to learn.

Kids who eat breakfast generally have more energy and focus for learning, yet nearly one in five children across U.S. communities go without breakfast, according to a report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. To change this statistic, Kellogg partnered with its convenience store retailers to help "set the table for success for kids everywhere."

This year, Kellogg's teamed up with Team Kellogg's U.S. Olympics and Paralympics athletes during National Breakfast Week, held March 3-7, by visiting schools in their home states to encourage students and their families to get involved in the program.

For every breakfast an employee shared Kellogg donated money to Action for Healthy Kids to help increase school breakfast participation.
