MINNEAPOLIS -- General Mills will introduce Nature Valley Protein Bars this month in an effort to capitalize on growth in that segment of its business.

“New Nature Valley Protein Bars contain 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per serving, great for consumers looking for added protein for energy or weight management,” chairman and CEO Kendall J. Powell said on a recent earnings call. “Our sales in convenience stores were up 10%, led by recent new product launches in the channel like Nature Valley Recharge bars and Fiber One Brownies.”

The Nature Valley Protein Bars are less than 200 calories and will launch in January in two flavors: Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate & Peanut and Almond & Dark Chocolate. The products are available 5 bars per box and have a suggested retail price of $3.89.

In addition, General Mills, Minneapolis, will soon be “adding new flavors to our successful Granola Thins and Fiber One snack bar lines. These items taste great and contain 90 calories or less per serving.”
