SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Stripes Convenience Stores began its second-annual 4-H fundraising campaign Monday. Stripes, a chain of 530 convenience stores owned and operated by Susser Holdings Corp., Corpus Christi, Texas, hopes to raise at least $75,000 for the organization, whose aim is to develop life skills and empower youth and volunteers, according to a report in The San Angelo Standard Times.
Last year, Stripes and its customers raised almost $67,000. This year, representatives from 4-H have added a Facebook contest. Participants can visit local 4-H chapter's or Stripes' Facebook page to vote for their favorite picture. The chapter with the picture with the most Facebook “likes” will receive an additional donation.
Customers who participate in the 4-H fundraising mobile campaign will receive a coupon for a free Slush Monkey frozen drink and a buy-one, get-one-free coupon for Wonka candy.
Susser Holdings Corp. is a third-generation, family-led business that operates more than 530 Stripes convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Restaurant service is available in more than 315 of its stores, primarily under the proprietary Laredo Taco Co. brand.
