YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Children's Charities recently presented $25,000 to the March of Dimes for the creation of a Parent Education & Support Center in the neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) at York Hospital in York, Pa.

The center will be the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, said Dolores Smith, state director of program services and public affairs for the March of Dimes, and will be a model for the 65 other neonatal ICUs in the state.

We're grateful to Rutter's Children's Charities for this generous contribution, Smith said. [image-nocss] It will help the March of Dimes to address the emotional, informational and material needs of the more than 400 families each year who spend time in the York Hospital neonatal intensive care unit. For them, this is a wonderful gift.

We're pleased to work with the March of Dimes and York Hospital to make the Parent Education & Support Center a reality and proud to help area families in their time of need, said Todd Rutter, president of Rutter's Dairy.

Rutter's contribution will support the center for two years. The funds will pay for educational materials printed in English and Spanish; baby journals that instruct parents how to bond with fragile newborns; a computer, desk and chair that will give parents access to online support; a digital camera and photo printer; a continuing-education lending library for the neonatal ICU nurse staff; staff training; and the implementation and maintenance of the center.

In 2006, York-based Rutter's will make total charitable contributions of approximately $200,000, the company said.

In other company news, Rutter's Holdings Inc., the parent company of Rutter's Farm Stores, M&G Realty and Rutter's Dairy, ranked fifth on the Central Penn Business Journal's list of the Top 100 Privately Held Companies in central Pennsylvania. Rutter's also posted the ninth-best percentage change in revenue of the top 100 with a 39.55% increase from 2004 to 2005.
