RAPID CITY, S.D. -- An EZ Mart convenience store in Rapid City, S.D., has become the first "Premier Store" for the South Dakota Lottery, the state agency announced on social media earlier this month following an event to debut the new store decor.
A Premier Store is a lottery retailer that has the business decorated in a lottery theme, featuring lottery logos and colors store-wide.
Lottery officials said this has worked well in other states and store owners are excited about it, reported KOTA-TV.
"Other states have done it with moderate to great success. So we are hoping to be in there too," state lottery sales director Joe Willingham told the news outlet.
"It means a lot more traffic inside our store. We have been partnered up with the lottery, selling their tickets for 16 years now. Any of the promotions they've ran have just been super for us," Darrell Lich, co-owner of the Cenex EZ-Mart with Matt Lich, told KOTA.
Lottery officials have not decided on the location of the next Premier Store; they said that they will see how this one works before they add another one. It will probably be in the eastern part of South Dakota sometime in 2015.
