Strategic relationship to benefit drivers' well-being

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Pilot Travel Centers LLC is the first truckstop chain to roll out the Swiftwick HEALTH+ Medical Class II graduated athletic compression sock line to more than 400 Pilot and Flying J travel centers across North America.

"Swiftwick is proud to be carried at Pilot Flying J Travel Centers, another Tennessee based company, to help promote drivers' health and healthy lifestyles in transportation," said Mark A. Cleveland, CEO and co-founder of Swiftwick, Brentwood, Tenn. "It's a massive, chain-wide commitment and the first time that truck drivers have had easy access to affordable compression socks that benefit their overall health."

Truck drivers spend as much as eight hours of their day sitting and driving over an 11-hour duty status period. Life in a constant sitting position increases the chance of developing conditions that can become hazardous to your health. The HEALTH+ sock line helps prevent pooling of blood in the legs using controlled pressure and addresses the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), a leading cause of blood clots, edema and leg discomfort.

The plush foot bed increases comfort and provides odor control, leveraging Swiftwick's antimicrobial and moisture-wicking capabilities.

The Swiftwick and Pilot Flying J relationship strengthens the travel center's driver health initiative. Flying J and Pilot are offering programs that encourage drivers to make better choices for their health, offering fitness facilities, healthy food choices and leading the way to providing health-improving products like Swiftwick's HEALTH+ compression socks.

The "made-in-the-USA" HEALTH+ Medical socks offer 132 needle-count graduated compression, and the retailer will sell it at the introductory price of $19.99 at more than 400 Pilot and Flying J travel centers beginning Sept. 2014.

Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Flying J, the largest operator of travel centers and travel plazas in North America, has more than 650 retail locations.
