PLANO, Texas -- Crossmark, a leading sales and marketing services company in the consumer goods industry, has named John Compton to its board of directors.
Compton spent most of his career as a senior executive at PepsiCo, most recently serving as president of PepsiCo. Previously he was CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods--the largest division within PepsiCo. In addition, Compton served as CEO of all PepsiCo operations in the United States and Canada. He began his career at PepsiCo in 1983 as a Frito-Lay production supervisor in the Pulaski, Tenn., manufacturing plant.
In all, Compton spent 30 years at PepsiCo in various sales, marketing, operations and general management assignments.
Currently, Compton also serves as a director at First Horizon National Corp.
Most recently, Compton was CEO of Pilot Flying J, Knoxville, Tenn. President and CEO Jimmy Haslam hired Compton in Sept. 2012 to take over his role at the truckstop company while Haslam shifted his attention to the newly purchased Cleveland Browns football team; however, for his own reasons, Haslam decided in Feb. 2013 to resume his leadership role at Pilot Flying J. Compton then assumed a new role as strategic advisor to Pilot Flying J, the Browns and the Haslam family.
"John brings extensive experience in the consumer goods industry to the Crossmark board," said Crossmark CEO Joe Crafton. "His exceptional leadership and insight will be important as Crossmark continues to grow and develop more solutions for our clients."
