Daily's Adding Dash of Fast-Casual Foodservice
Will remodel c-stores to accommodate new concept that offers "Yum on the Run"

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Robert Fallon joined First Coast Energy LLP in January 2012 to create Dash, the fast-casual restaurant concept the company is putting in its Daily's convenience stores throughout Northeast Florida, reported The Jacksonville Business Journal.
The first Dash opened in March 2013, according to the concept's Facebook page. Daily's built that store with the Dash concept in mind, but in July, the company will start to remodel its existing stores to accommodate Dash, said the report.
The company has plans for seven of the stores to be remodeled by the first quarter of 2014, the report said. It has 200 gas stations statewide, operating under both the Daily's and Shell banners.
Dash serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to patrons who order via touchscreen kiosk. Ingredients are as fresh as possible, Fallon said. "The difference maker for us is it's fresh, it's made to order," he told the newspaper. "We make food as we need it."
First Coast Energy president and CEO Aubrey Edge said the remodeling costs of the San Pablo store will be close to $500,000, but that the number will fluctuate between stores, depending on how much work is needed.
The menu includes breakfast sandwiches, made-to-order coffee specialty drinks, lunch sandwiches and salads. Most lunch options are around $6.99.
"It's got a mass appeal," Edge told the paper. "We're priced extremely competitive with any sandwich place, so we want to be able to compete with that segment, but we think we've carved out a nice niche inside a convenience store, which again, gives you an element you wouldn't necessarily expect."
