Van Houtte to Get Aggressive in C-Stores
Enters into coffee bar deals with Mac's, Chevron

MONTREAL -- Gourmet coffee company Van Houtte Inc. said it is moving aggressively to grab a bigger chunk of the North American convenience store market, including a deal to install self-service bars in 500 of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.'s Mac's stores in Ontario, reported The Globe & Mail.
The development potential is phenomenal, with about 130,000 c-stores in North America, Van Houtte president and CEO Jean-Yves Monette told reporters before yesterday's annual meeting, according to the newspaper.
The Montreal-based [image-nocss] company, which still gets about 65% of its revenue from serving the office coffee market, has also signed an agreement with Chevron Corp. for a pilot program to test run its coffee-service kiosks at 45 Chevron stores in the Seattle area, the report said. Van Houtte already has a deal for self-service coffee bars in 115 Chevron Canada facilities in British Columbia under the Van Houtte brand name, it added.
Coffee in the Mac's stores will be under the Mac's private label, said the report.
