Plans to take "leadership role in the snack mix category"

ST. LOUIS -- Ralston Foods Foodservice, a division of Ralcorp Holdings Inc., has announced that it is launching a new line of snack products, reported The St. Louis Business Journal.

The company's Snack Mix products will be available in four flavors including traditional, cheddar, sweet and salty honey nut and ultimately bold. All four flavors are packaged in 8.75-ounce bags.

"Ralston Foods is taking a leadership role in the snack mix category," John Gruender, director of Ralston Foods Foodservice sales, said.

Ralston is not new to the snack business as it manufactured snacks under the Chex name before Chex was spun off to General Mills in 1994, said the report.

The food segment makes more than 50 varieties of private-label ready-to-eat and hot cereals.

St. Louis-based Ralcorp produces a variety of private-brand foods sold under the individual labels of various grocery, mass merchandise and drugstore retailers, and frozen bakery products sold to in-store bakeries, restaurants and other foodservice customers. Ralcorp's diversified product mix includes: ready-to-eat and hot cereals; nutritional and cereal bars; snack mixes, corn-based chips and extruded corn snack products; crackers and cookies; snack nuts; chocolate candy; salad dressings; mayonnaise; peanut butter; jams and jellies; syrups; sauces; frozen griddle products including pancakes, waffles, and French toast; frozen biscuits and other frozen prebaked products such as breads and muffins; frozen and refrigerated doughs; and dry pasta. Until February 3, 2012, Ralcorp also produced Post branded cereals.
