Rutter's takes best of county for milk, deli; second only to Starbucks for coffee
YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores again has the No. 1 milk, and now has added the top deli, sub or sandwich in the 2006 Best of York County rankings.
The York Sunday News presented its reader survey since 2001. The 2006 edition comprised 85 categories across seven divisions.
Rutter's Dairy has served York County, Pa., since 1921, the newspaper said, and it's clear county residents believe the company knows its white stuff.
The newspaper cited Rutter's Farm Stores, a York County fixture since 1968, for Chomping [image-nocss] its way to the top spot for deli, sub or sandwich, up from third place last year.
Also, Rutter's Farm Stores moved up from third to second place in the coffee division and anticipates a No. 1 ranking next year after rolling out its new premium specialty coffee offering later this year.
We're honored to be recognized ahead of Subway, the international leader in the sandwich category, and in hot pursuit of Starbucks, the No. 1 coffee worldwide, said Scott Hartman, president of Rutter's Farm Stores.
Added Todd Rutter, president of Rutter's Dairy: It's a daily privilege for our family and for our employees to meet the needs of York County residents.
The family-owned Rutter's companies include Rutter's Farm Stores, which operates 50 convenience stores in York, Adams, Franklin and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania; Rutter's Dairy, which serves customers in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.; and M&G Realty, a real estate holding company. The companies employ more than 800 people.
