Coolly Managing Complexity
Shell Coolband program leverages Cybera

HOUSTON -- Cybera Inc., in conjunction with Houston-based Shell Oil, has announced that Cybera's Wireless Broadband network connectivity solutions have been approved for use within the Shell Coolband program.

Shell's Coolband program provides a set of approved network connectivity options for Shell-branded payment solutions. Now any Shell-branded store can access Shell's payment processing solutions through Cybera's managed Wireless Broadband services. As the only wireless broadband solutions approved for use in the Coolband program, Cybera's fully managed services are deployed in the convenience store environment to meet three critical areas of need: rapid deployment for store grand openings, primary network connectivity and diverse-routed broadband backup.

"When we considered Cybera's wireless products for the Coolband program, we focused on PCI [payment card industry] compliance and reliability. Our goal is to ensure a fast, secure and consistent payment experience for customers of Shell-branded locations," said Scott Taylor, wholesale technology advisor with Shell Oil.

The Wireless Broadband products help manage the complexity of the application environment often found in the c-store. Beyond Shell-branded payment options, virtually all other applications in the store environment can leverage the Wireless Broadband connection including nonbranded credit and PIN debit payment cards, gift and loyalty cards, tank monitoring, point-of-sale (POS) system and backoffice application support, digital signage or media delivery, self-service kiosks, digital video, environmental control and many others. Cybera's Wireless Broadband solutions are based on 3G wireless network infrastructure for nationwide coverage, are PCI compliant and fully managed.

Dan Glennon, senior vice president of marketing and strategy for Cybera, said payment applications can be up and running within 24 hours of ordering service.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Cybera is a provider of managed network services. Cybera's SmartNetwork integrates private intranet, Voice over IP, credit/debit transaction processing, public wi-fi hotspots, IP video and many other applications into a single network solution that meets the strict security requirements of Sarbanes Oxley, PCI/DSS and HIPAA. Cybera's SmartNetwork solutions are based on virtualization technologies tied to a nationwide MPLS core network and proprietary software systems that automate the design, implementation, management and support of network solutions custom tailored to each customer's needs.
