Thorntons Growth Six new stores to open by end of 2009 in Nashville, Chicago, Champaign

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. said that it has broken ground on six new convenience store sites and plans to open these new locations by the end of December 2009. It will open four new stores in Nashville, Tenn., expanding the market to 10 locations in 2.5 years. The retailer also plans to open a new store in Chicago and another location in Champaign, Ill. With the addition of these new locations, Louisville, Ky.-based Thorntons will operate 165 locations throughout Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio and Connecticut.
Customers can look forward to a clean, friendly environment with foods such as fresh sandwiches, salads, fruit and more, the company said. Thorntons' roller grill bar design features "hot off the grill" items like hot dogs, corndogs and more. The chain offers a large variety of fountain drinks, frozen Icee flavors, smoothies and coffee. It offers products at grocery store sizes, competitive prices, as well as "100% guaranteed" fuel.
