Terrible's Honors Vets
Offering free car washes for military personnel; also providing Safe Place
  - ADVERTISEMENT -
LAS VEGAS -- Today, Veterans Day, Terrible's Car Wash is starting a new Las Vegas tradition, it said. To show its support for armed forces personnel, Terrible Herbst Inc. is rewarding U.S. military veterans and armed forces for their service. Military veterans and active military service personnel may visit any of Terrible Herbst's 17 manned car wash locations in Las Vegas from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, and receive a free basic full service or basic exterior car wash.

Military service personnel and military veterans need to show their military identification to receive their complimentary wash, the company said, with one wash per military ID.

In other company news, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, one of Nevada's largest nonprofit providers for homeless, neglected and runaway youth, kicked off its Safe Place sign sale on October 30 at all Terrible Herbst c-store locations in southern Nevada, reported The Las Vegas Sun. Donations start at $1 and range up to $10,000. In exchange for donations, donors will receive a Safe Place sign with their name, which will be posted at all Terrible Herbst locations for the duration of the campaign.

"Safe Place" provides access to immediate assistance and resources to young people in a crisis. Available 24 hours a day, any youth in crisis can go to all Terrible Herbst c-store locations in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Mesquite, Laughlin, Searchlight and Pahrump, Nevada.

When the youth accesses a Safe Place Site, they are moved to a secure location while a trained, Terrible Herbst staff member contacts the homeless youth Mobile Crisis Intervention Team. A licensed professional arrives to the site within 20 minutes of the call to assist the youth with basic medical care (if necessary) and transports the youth to an appropriate alternative location (relative's house, shelter, drug rehabilitation facility, etc.). More than 200 Las Vegas youth have been served through Safe Place in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas-based Terrible Herbst consists of 18 car washes, 19 lube locations and more than 100 convenience store/gas stations in the Las Vegas area. Its total marketing area includes Nevada, Arizona, California and Utah. The company is related to slot route, casino and hotel operator Herbst Gaming Inc. It also owns Terrible Herbst Motorsports.
