XProtean Partners With NCR
Offering POS solution for small-format convenience, fuel retailers

MILPITAS, Calif. -- XProtean said that it has joined NCR Corp.'s NCR RealPartner program as a reseller of NCR RealPOS point-of-sale (POS) workstations. The XProtean solution pairs NCR RealPOS hardware with its integrated retail management software solution to optimize operations for small-format retailers, from the point of sale and the backoffice to corporate. XProtean is designed specifically for the fast-growing segments of mixed environment retail, convenience stores, restaurants and retail fuel, the company said.

Retailers using the solution are able to increase revenue by improving speed of service, order accuracy, customer loyalty, product availability and sales per visit while lowering overall costs by reducing inventory shrink, fraud and employee training time, according to XProtean.

"NCR is proud to include XProtean in our family of retail partners," said John Saccomanno, NCR director of food, drug and petroleum industry marketing.

Bonfare Markets, a chain of convenience and fuel stores in Northern California, relies on the XProtean and NCR solution to manage its business, it said. "Before XProtean, our stores used time-intensive manual processes to manage operations. With XProtean and NCR, we have a system that keeps an automatic eye on inventory, prices and promotions," said Bonfare Markets regional manager Danny Arcayena. "That automatic eye also helps us comply with liquor laws. Some Bonfare Markets are open 24 hours a day and by local law we can't sell alcohol after 2 a.m. Sometimes when employees are busy they don't notice the time, however now that our system is automatic, our scanners won't register an alcohol purchase after hours."

Milpitas, Calif.-based XProtean is a provider of integrated retail management solutions for small-format retailers including the fast growing segments of convenience and fuel retail and quick serve restaurants.
