Gulf Oil to the Max Selects SVX Prepaid as preferred supplier for branded retail network

NEWTON, Mass. -- To help deliver value and cost savings opportunities to its branded franchise network, Gulf Oil LP has selected SVX Prepaid as its preferred supplier in offering prepaid solutions for more than 1,400 gasoline retail centers in that network. SVX Prepaid will offer its full line of services including prepaid wireless from national, regional and international carriers; stored-value debit cards; prepaid MasterCard, Visa and Discover programs; international and domestic long-distance phone cards that feature STi Prepaid; and custom retailer-branded gift cards and prepaid cell phones.
Ron Sabia, president and chief operating officer for Gulf Oil, said that the SVX Prepaid deal will help its retailers "maximize revenue in this fast-growing category."
SVX Prepaid offers turnkey solutions using a category management approach, said Brett Nigro, co-owner of SVX Prepaid, a Boston-based privately owned company that provides prepaid services to retailers throughout the United States.
Gulf Oil, Newton, Mass., is one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products. Gulf Oil distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,400 Gulf-branded gas stations, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. It supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets. Through its unbranded subsidiary, Great Island Energy, Gulf Oil also supplies petroleum products as well as risk management and financial services to industrial, commercial and independent retail firms. Gulf Oil, through its ownership interest in World Energy, is also the nation's largest distributor of biodiesel.
